Day 23: My five celebrity crushes

When I was six years old., I remember catching a glimpse of Top Gun on my family TV, and thinking “WHO is THAT guy?”

Yes, Tom Cruise was my very first celebrity crush. From Far and Away, to Days of Thunder (and when I was old enough, Cocktail), that crush followed me through until I was old enough to realize that, by the time I was old enough to date him (HA!), I’d be eighteen and he’d be thirty-seven, which is SO OLD (I say this, as I turn thirty eight in two weeks…oh the irony). It was okay though, because I had enough crushes to go around. When I was a kid, even a young one, some might have used the word “boy crazy” to describe me. I loooooved to be “in love.”

Val Kilmer (I mean…Real Genius- COME ON!)

Mark Paul Gosselar (duh- Zack Morris!)

Fred Savage, Leonardo DiCaprio, the cast of The Sandlot, the cast of The Mighty Ducks…I didn’t have very discriminating tastes way back when.

These days, it takes a lot more than a semi-pretty face to impress me. Age, maturity, and life experience have me more jaded about the male species, even the famous kind that I’ll never meet, speak to, and that will never know I exist. Of course, pretty faces don’t hurt, but my criteria are as follows:

1). Be a GOOD HUMAN. I get it, the bad boys have edge, excitement, and the possibility that YOU, yes YOU might be the woman who changes him. BAAAAHAHAHAHA; ladies, none of you are taming the beast, a jerk is a jerk. Good humans put stars in these eyes.

2). Smart/talented. Pretty faces are great, and they get some men pretty far in Hollywood, but wits and talent win out for me. Honorable mention on this one, since he’s not on my list, but Bradley Cooper- where in the world did he even come from these past few years? Talent out the EARS! It’s made him exponentially more attractive.

3). Funny. I love to laugh, and it’s a pretty well known fact that most women like a guy they laugh with (or at, in this instance), Look at all the stunning actresses and models that end up with slovenly looking comics!

Without further ado…

Chris Evans: The future Mr. Courtney, because I can’t change my name (so he’ll have to change his…obviously). Ya’ll knew that was coming.

The next future Mr. Courtney. Since Chris Evans is taking his sweet time, Zachary Levi is quickly coming up on being numero uno. He is a FANTASTIC human, who does charity work for kids with mental health issues, is a super talented actor, hilarious, and JESUS - LOOK AT THIS MAN! Droooooooool!

Not typically “my type” (I usually like leaner, less “I could squash you with one hand” types), this guy is not only handsome and fit, but self depreciating, funny, and kind, to boot! He does TONS of work with the Make-a-wish foundation, and isn’t afraid to show his emotions (HOOOOT!)

KEANUUUUU! I’ve had a crush on this guy since his Bill and Ted/Parenthood days. Lately, he’s been in the news for his poignant views on death and grief, and it’s different (and refreshing) to hear a man speak on the topic. He “gets it,” which is both sad, and cool. And also, his recent cameo in Always Be My Maybe was probably the best thing ever.

Okay, okay- he’s probably not the most charitable of the bunch…but he’s Zac Efron. He’s talented, gorgeous, and like…have you seen his abs? Sorry, ya’ll, I’m only human. ;)
